A crucial time of the yachting calendar. A perfect occasion to get you more familiar with the Tankoa family, its key people, its past, present and future.

Tankoa, since its foundation back in 2008 has been creating a unique tool and prepared ground for phase two of its strategic plan and we wish to give you all a head up on what the first five years of Tankoa have been, and what the next five years will be.

TANKOA TODAY

Guido Orsi Jr – Tankoa President introduction speech: “My main occupation is to stand behind the vision of the branding of the so-called “New Tankoa”. We all understand that a good and positive perception the clients have of a shipyard, is surely one of the keys to our success. Having a clear vision of how things proceed along with organizing work harmoniously and having a steady pace are signals that things are going in the right direction and allow me to make the right decisions ahead of time. This is what I have to feel globally all around Tankoa’s environment”.

Tankoa vision is to see the yard like a boutique shipyard moreover as an “Atelier” shipyard. A structure where clients and surveyors feel at home and we will strongly pursue this philosophy. Attention to persons and details, along with “tailor making” a perfect yacht together, are our priorities. The only thing that we have changed up until today is the fact that our first yacht, S693 will be delivered next July, is not any more the best-kept secret.

Marketing and brand positioning
As part of Tankoa plan to position the brand in the best possible way, yard has been working with an Italian advertising agency to revamp our corporate image. While the newborn S693 is on its way to be delivered and with this present Monaco Yacht Show to come, made all this possible in choosing the perfect moment and unique timing.

The directions that were given to the agency were straight, but a perfect result was not easy to achieve. Agency had to design a new logo, a new web site, new brochures and build a corporate identity that would transmit Tankoa’s foundation of financial reliability, seriousness, and timeless elegance. While through the logo, send an immediate message. The new logo, which is an emblem, is a mixture of the lines of a hull and the tail of a scorpion, identifying and uniting the Company’s name with the Yachts building vocation. Tankoa, in Genoese dialect means scorpion. Tankoa's aim was to maintain a continuous theme with the previous made. The release of this new corporate identity is really the sign of a “New Era” of Tankoa and the start of phase two of Genoa based yard strategic plan.
Tankoa S693 work in progress
Tankoa Yachts is proud to say that this project is almost 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
Fairing has been completed; most of the insulation jobs have been completed; wiring and piping are ongoing; lower decks have been portioned and the portion jobs on the remaining decks have been started; engine room is more than 70% completed, teak decks jobs are on working progress, wheelhouse is being fitted out, a custom aluminum alloy swimming pool has been installed.
Almost 180 people are working on daily basis and the shipyard works 6 days a week. The interiors of S693 are being produced at Cantu Contract in Como.
The owner of the vessel is a young entrepreneur who wanted a timeless yacht with modern but warm interiors.

In parallel, yard have been very busy completing all the studies and design on the second boat, S701, which is close in being a sister ship to S693 but with a different transom and a wide body upper deck.
Now that this study, new design and a proposed General Arrangement on this boat have been completed, we Tankoa is confident in offering it to the market hopefully generating a quick sale. The General Arrangement has a well studied passage regarding the flow of the guests and crew on board, all of the dedicated spaces were thought in order to fulfill an owner’s wishes.

The S701 has an unbeatable key point not to forget; its delivery time: 24/26 months!
Yard has a number of buyers interested in the yacht and actually the brokerage community has shown growing interest for Tankoa. The S701’s design has been yet presented to the brokerage community.

TANKOA TODAY AND TOMORROW

The commercial aspect and brand positioning are intimately linked.

One of the first task determining the alliance between Yacht-Ology's Michel Karsenti company and Tankoa, was to create a true osmosis between the two.
The specifications, the engineering and the overall quality of a Tankoa Yacht, will make the shipyard feel proud, when S693 will be standing side by side with any North European produced yacht. This was the base of Tankoa’s philosophy.

This alliance is a mixture of factors: Karsenti’s understanding of the market’s expectations from the brokerage community and final clients, Tankoa’s strong involvement in image branding and guiding, along with a clear vision and experience on boat constructing by Tankoa’s team, create a synergy that will allow the two to position Tankoa as a top “Boutique Shipyard”.

With Tankoa open minded attitude of its entire management in trying to do their best in accommodating any client’s wishes and always shoot for the best possible quality, while profitability, has always be seen as the last concern.

Yards knows to be more expensive than many of other Italian competitors, but owners reps, surveyors, as well as brokers who visited Tankoa’s facility and the S693 in particular, truly realized that there are highly tangible reasons why its pricing is higher. Whilst, compared to Northern Europe builders, Tankoa will always be more competitive for a very simple reason: which is the capacity of the Italian business model and law regulations in being extremely in favor of hiring subcontractors.

TANKOA NEXT FUTURE

The plan is to position the brand with three main technical platforms that will be offered as semi-custom. Once clearly established that 3 models will be the best products money can buy, Yard will fully open our full-custom construction division that will operate and respond to any client’s and designer’s demand for bidding on new specific projects.

The next two platforms will be 50/54 meters and 80/88 meters.

Tankoa’s S501 will be the first model issued out of the 50/54 platform and is a 50 meters long vessel, under 500 gross tonnage. S501 will be available in two hull variants, S501D (that stands for displacement) and S501F (that stands for Fast) which has already been tank tested. The hull design has been created by one of today’s most talented naval architect, Massimo Visibelli.

S501D and F main focus points are:
-Easy administrative and reduced management cost.
-Reasonable consumption. S501 hull, even in its full displacement version, will be built in light Alloy to reduce weight and need for kW at a given speed. Three power packages will be offered for respective top speeds of 16, 18 and 27 knots.
-Amenities: the concept of S501 comes from the statement that forms must follow functions. While most 50 meters available on the market are evolutions of existing models in which new “trends” equipment and amenities have been adapted to, S501 has been conceived and engineered around these amenities.
-Design: the choice of Francesco Paszkowski was a natural fit for a yacht which design was to be breath taking and would allow all modern equipment and amenities to be integrated, while maximizing guests and owner’s space while staying under 500GT.
-Running comfort: most clients’ concerns are silence and running comfort. For these reasons, S501 has been created with a modified plum bow which base has been enriched with a wide hard chine and massive free boards on top to minimize the risk of water spray.
-Enjoying the sea: another symptomatic demand from yacht owners is to live the sea. For this reason, the aft deck of Tankoa S501 is equipped with hydraulic side foldout terraces, floor to ceiling windows in the dining room, aft safety glass balconies, sliding side windows in the dining room, foldout balconies in the master and a total vision of the sea from wherever owners or guests will seat in the boat.

-Extended outdoor spaces: Three gigantic sun pads and three external dining areas are part of the initial design package offered on S501.
-Oversized teak dressed tender garage for a 6,50 meters boat that converts to a real beach club, once the transom door is open.

Tankoa S801 - Preliminary GA released during this Monaco Yacht Show

Tankoa S801 will be the first model issued out of the last 80/88 meters platform.  This is an 80 meters project that can be extended up to 88 meters.
The beam will be 13,50 meter, giving her a volume that will approach 2,500 gross tonnage (always in its 80 meters version).
S801 is a project we like to compare to the Show Cars we can often see presented at the Geneva Auto Show or Chicago Car Show.

S801, which yard likes to call “Gold Wings”, is the result of Paszkowski vision of an interpretation of Italy’s most famous and beautiful vessel of all time, the Amerigo Vespucci. The superstructure of this yacht seems to be literally suspended, creating an interpretation of what the Amerigo Vespucci would look like if its sails had been retracted towards the aft.
Referring to Amerigo Vespucci, it is a great way to remind and give a tribute to one of the greatest Italian naval explorers of the world who, obviously, discovered America.

Tankoa Yachts intends the S801 model to be one of the world’s most innovative yachts in terms of structure. Hull will be in high tensile steel while superstructure will be in aluminum but some other technologies like titanium reinforcement are still under study.
The main deck will retain the 70 meters philosophy with the guest cabins located to the front to reach the highest level of silence. The first section of the main deck will be wide body to offer the largest volume saloon in the segment.

Other Tankoa's future drives and operational
In a very short time, our main efforts will be concentrated in:
-Selling the S701 vessel, getting orders for the S501 model
-Launching of the “infrastructure phase” that has already been approved by the local authorities.
-Parallel to this phase, the S801 concept will be completed; meaning short specification, main system arrangement and hull engineering.
-The 50 meters series will be produced by a dedicated team in a new shed soon on built on the 250 meters long dock right in front of the existing two 90 meters sheds. The plan is to built two 50 meters in parallel at a time.
Yard program is to break ground this winter as soon as the first order has been signed. Already in Tankoa's hands the permissions, thanks to Genoa.

About TANKOA YACHTS
TANKOA Yachts is a project born late in 2008, thanks to a very competent team of managers and investor already involved in the yachting industry, and with a long professional history of successes. Since its inception, TANKOA Yachts' business plan is based on a new philosophy of yacht construction. “Boutique Shipyard” are the most accurate words to describe TANKOA's philosophy, a top quality shipyard focused on yachts ranging from 50 to 90 meters. Limited production, attention to details, use of the latest technologies, precision, rich specifications, ethics and emphasis  on Italian building excellence are just a few of TANKOA's values. TANKOA Yachts has opted for “a multi-cultural approach to yacht construction” by integrating various criteria. At TANKOA, the management team is proud to have successfully merged  business ethics, high quality precision engineering and Italian DNA in design flexibility.

Two experienced and well-known professionals were deeply involved from the first steps of this fascinating industrial history: world renowned and respected designer Francesco Paszkowski and naval architecture professor Vincenzo Ruggiero. They are working together on the first two yachts according to TANKOA's philosophy guidelines in yacht construction, based on totally custom production where quality, exclusivity, precision and reliability are the main focus.
